Youth

Tim 120x120 for web Nov 06As a church we see the importance that youth ministry has in the transition from children's ministry through to adult life in the church, and we value the contribution that our youth bring to the whole of the church. We believe in a church, which actively values young people as the church of today and allows them to grow in the gifting which God is blessing them with, so that they are a blessing to the church as a whole.

We think that knowing Jesus is awesome, exciting, & radical, but his church can be perceived as boring, dull, & irrelevant. What we're trying to do through the youth ministries at Winchester Baptist Church is to create a new shape of Church which provides young people with a friendly & relevant environment where they can experience the living God.

Each week we join together in a variety of settings looking to connect deeper with God and with each other. Below is a breakdown of our current youth ministries.

For more information on any aspect of our youth ministries please email our Youth Pastor - Tim Williamson or take a note of what he looks like & grab hold of him on a Sunday if you're new to the church.

Youth Groups

THE EDGE
Thursday 7.30pm - 9.30pm
At the Church Centre
School Years 9 - 13

The Edge is one of four congregations at Winchester Baptist Church. Our mission is to be a church for young people, relating the gospel in relevant, practical and living ways. The Edge exists to enable young people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

We do this through a varied programme which includes Cell Groups & Cell Celebrations, social events, residentials & a summer trip to Soul Survivor. Edge has its own worship band & is aiming to be peer led in all that it does because we believe that God has equipped our young people with his gifts to build up the body, glorify God & reach the lost.

FRESH

Sunday morning during the main service
School Years 7 - 11

The youth of WBC normally remain in the main morning service for the first half hour of corporate worship & then depart for age appropriate & relevant teaching led by a dedicated & skilled team, to their very own Youth Room - complete with shabby sofas, full size pool table, DVD, TV, mixing desk, microwave & kettle - what more do they need!

FRIDAY CLUB
Friday 7.00pm - 9.00pm
At the Church Centre
School Years 7 - 11

The imaginatively named Friday Club is the main social provision for those primarily but not exclusively disconnected from the church. It's our open youth club that is very popular with unchurched teens. It's a pretty laid back agenda with the emphasis on just chillaxing, hanging out & getting to build relationships. There's a monthly large social event where Friday club joins with Edge which is an opportunity to strengthen links across our youth provision.

UNITE
Various city-wide Youth Celebrations, Events & Initiatives
See the forthcoming events page for up to date info

Unite is the city wide youth expression that involves the young people from over ten churches across Winchester. There's a Unite Core Team made up of youth leaders & volunteers from those churches. Events take place on almost a monthly basis and the primary purpose of Unite is about bringing Christian young people together for corporate & culturally relevant worship, teaching & ministry & how we equip these young people to reach their non-Christian friends across the Winchester area with the gospel.
