Students

Tufty for webWelcome to the wonderful city of Winchester.

We recognise that your one to four years away from home are a fantastic opportunity to spread your wings and really grow in God by experiencing different churches, traditions and styles of worship. In fact you will be utterly spoilt for choice in Winchester as the churches are so alive, and do so much together! We see this choice and blessing as good and our city's gift to you! Make the most of it!

This is the opportunity of a lifetime and your chance to find and deepen your faith for yourself- and we want to help in that: whether you worship with us or not. Our focus is clearly on the Kingdom of God in this city and your life- not on our little empire at WBC. So- go for it! We suggest you sample the city's churches and either settle on one long-term or settle on one for each year of your student life. Don't be a butterfly!- get stuck in and get blessed and be a blessing. We'll all get to meet one another and worship together at one of the many city-wide events.

If you want a suggestion of churches to try- see our Affiliations page.

If you want to settle with us for a while (and a good number do) you would be so welcome. Come get tucked in! Students often play or sing in our bands (and over the years we have had complete student bands who have led worship for us). We also pair students up with host families who take them under their wings and feed them every now and then.

Students are welcome to join our Clusters and Small Groups- in fact 'Transition' is a cluster just for student age adults- it meets Thurs nights at the church from 7.30pm. In our other Small Groups students can experience something of a diverse, supportive, family atmosphere- something they may be missing while away from home.

There are plenty of ways in which students can get involved in 'giving' as well as 'getting': our Youth Congregation (The Edge), our work with Older Folks and Children, music, Youth Work, Healing On The Streets etc etc.

If you want to be kept informed of what is going on here at WBC (or at a City level) then keep coming back to our website or sign up for our weekly mailshot.

Nai and Ali Tuft (ex Win Uni students) head up our student and Host Family ministry, under Tim our Associate Pastor. By all means contact them on studentsATwinbap.org.uk or speak to Sam Dinsmore (Uni CU Pres 2011) or Roseanna Clare & Piero Regnante (Art College CU Leaders 2011).

Looking forward to seeing you really soon!

New to Winchester for Sept 2011? Here are details about the welcome you will receive, our Students' lunch etc:
Ali and Nai Tuft will be here at a Student Welcome Table to welcome any new students, with coffee, from Sun 26th Sept 2011 onwards. They'll make a fuss of you and explain our church and its vision. Some of our students will also be there at your Sunday morning breakfasts to walk you to our church should you want.

Our Student Welcome Lunch will (most likely, TBC) be on Sun 13th Nov after our 10am morning service. Details will be on our Forthcoming Events page nearer the time. We'll save some spaces for you but, if you can, let us know you are coming via the link there.
