Children

Our children are very important to us all here at WBC. We see their inclusion in the first part of the service (about 20 minutes) as significant to our morning family congregation as we introduce them into the worshipping life of our church.

Once a term the children join the adults at some part of the service for All Age Communion. Once every two months the children (except the very young ones) stay in the service the whole time for All Age Worship (I hour long). Alternate months the kids also have their own praise time called 'Kids Own Praise' (KOP) when they are encouraged to participate according their own (musical) gifts and skills where possible, before going into their own groups.

Our Sundays page will tell you when All Age Communion, All Age Worship Services and KOP are.

There is a crèche available every Sunday for the very young children. Parents are welcome to stay with their child if needed, but encouraged to remain in the service if at all possible.

When the older children leave the service they go into COGS (Children Of God Squad).

There are three age groups within COGS, as outlined above, which all have an adult leader and at least one helper depending upon numbers of children. The COGS curriculum and interactive activities are based upon the Scripture Union “Light” series, but adapted to meet the current needs of each individual group. Each group builds on the previous one but all aim to introduce the children to Jesus and nurture them towards a personal relationship with Him. This is done in a way that is as culturally relevant as possible to help them sustain their relationship with Jesus through to adulthood.

COGS have their own behaviour policy in place which parents can ask to see, and comply with all aspects of WBC's child protection policy.
